Space Saving Expandable Table

Fletcher Capstan Table Schwatz by DB Fletcher Design. The table unlocks then rotates while it expands and interlocks after it turns about 30˚. The table can easily fit about 6 people with a little bit of elbow room left over when in it’s smaller form and after it expands about 12 people can be seated.

Judith Delleman – Pencil Chair

The pencil chair made by Judith Delleman is really an interesting piece of work. How often do you go to Ikea and use the pencil once and throw them away? Judith has created a luxurious looking chair by reusing Ikea pencils.

Judith Delleman is based out of the Netherlands. She is a student at SintLucas Art Academy and is studying interior design. She used over 500 Ikea pencils to redesign an old Ikea chair. The seat and back she carefully outfitted with leather upholstery. She says, “The future is in the reusing of materials.”

New York based Resource Furniture distributes European furniture companies. One of the companies based in Italy called Clei manufactures really high level designs that really save space. Amazing furniture that transforms in a matter of seconds for example one of the furniture featured in the video below appears to be a table one second and a bed the next. Truly remarkable use of space.

ABC Chairs by designer Roeland Otten, based out of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The 26 prototypes are made of lacquered MDF with hopes to mass produce these chairs with a lighter more durable material. His design idea could be used outdoors and smaller sizes would be more suitable, perfect in fact, for children.
